Victoria Long, Practice Manager
Postpartum Doula serving Macon, Jackson, Swain Counties
My passion for supporting families began with the birth of my first baby. That experience was physically and emotionally challenging: a painful pregnancy, an unplanned C-section, a slow recovery, and postpartum anxiety and depression. Everything felt chaotic, and I didn’t realize just how much help I needed until I was in the thick of it. My mother-in-law became my lifeline, driving in from the next town and juggling work just to help me make it to appointments. It was such a learning experience on how essential it is to plan for postpartum support.

My doula made a huge difference in reducing my birth trauma. Inspired by her, and by my best friend who asked me to support her birth during COVID, I trained with DONA and later became certified with The VBAC Link. Supporting families through pregnancy and birth was deeply rewarding, but after my second baby, my heart shifted to postpartum care. Birth and postpartum are so different, but in both transitions I am honored and humbled to be invited into such a sacred space.

With my second son I had built my community and knew what support I would need from the start. Brandi was my doula for a planned C-section, my long distance best friend stayed with me once my husband returned to work, and I knew I could lean into peer and lactation support by attending the mommy group just five days after giving birth.
That postpartum period was healing and even joyful. I was surprised and grateful that I didn’t experience PPD this time. When my baby was diagnosed with a severe tongue tie, Brandi once again helped save our nursing journey, and I discovered how essential bodywork is.

Now, as the Practice Manager of Birthstone Breastfeeding and Wellness Center, I love watching families grow and thrive with the support of our services, whether it’s lactation care, bodywork, doula support, or just a listening ear.

As a postpartum doula, I’m there to lighten the load, I can prepare a meal, fold laundry, hold your baby while you nap or shower, or simply listen and help you process your birth. I specialize in supporting C-section recovery, cloth diapering, Elimination Communication, and helping families get comfortable with their breast pumps. Postpartum support doesn’t fix everything, but it can make the early days of parenthood a whole lot gentler, especially with someone by your side who truly gets it.

This work also gives me the flexibility to homeschool my son. In my free time, I love baking, and I’m always spending time outdoors and trying to garden, even if I’ve got a black thumb when it comes to gardening!
